In addition to this he fulfills the role of Managing Director at BMGI SA which is a world leading service provider in the deployment of Lean Six Sigma and Innovation programs. Over the past 8 years Salomon has grown BMGI SA to be the largest service provider of this niche nature in South Africa.

Salomon's experience:
My career started in manufacturing as a process technician at Reumech OMC (BAE Land Systems). After two years of working on the IVECO Truck assembly processes I moved to Johnson Controls Automotive (JCI) in Pretoria, South Africa and was appointed as Process Engineer. I quickly moved through the ranks with one of many highlights, as Manufacturing Engineering Manager, being the construction of a 6000sqm factory and concurrent design and successful implementation of multiple car seat assembly and seat cover sewing lines for all Ford and Mazda vehicles.

Towards the end of 1999 I was nominated to go on Six Sigma Black Belt Training in Europe. This was part of a global Six Sigma deployment at JCI. This was soon followed with Master Black Belt training in 2001 and I was also appointed as Deployment Leader for South Africa.

During 2002 I decided to venture out on my own and established the first independant South African based Six Sigma consulting and training company. During 2003 I signed an agreement with Breakthrough Management Group International (BMGI).

General: Rather than spending a great deal of time merely talking about possible fixes I generally prefer to prioritize and get a solution implemeted quickly and efficiently. I also enjoy finding fresh, innovative approaches to all endeavors and feel compelled to break ground and try doing things in ways never tried before.

Thoughts on innovation and creativity

Innovation has to do with developing new solutions to the various challenges customers face that are desirable to customers, feasible to produce and ultimately commercially viable. Getting this right requires enormous amounts of creativity on all levels from understanding customer needs to developing products and services and even to designing new business models. Creativity, I believe, is the underlying driver of Innovation
