The Call for Speakers seeks to elicit a resounding response from thought leaders in all spheres of life to contribute to the conversation and enable delegates to walk away with concrete outcomes and commitments aligned with our 2018 theme, AFRICA OUR TIME HAS COME.
Our key focal areas will guide the conversation, while due process and specific criteria will be applied to the selection process. We aim to have a mix of thought leadership and best practice in innovation and therefore welcome papers from a wide range of focus areas, but the following six areas are of particular interest:
- Cities of the Future
- Space/Big Data/Artificial Intelligence/Robotics, etc.
Social entrepreneurship is a cross-cutting theme at the Summit!
Please note that during the application process, only an abstract of your proposed speaking topic is required. The submission form will guide you with regards to the information required.
Workshop facilitators must be prepared to develop supporting material to be made available to participants prior to the workshop.
Format of Speaking Slots
The Summit offers a number of different types of engagement, including:
- Keynote Sessions (20 – 30 min)
- Tract specific sessions (15 min)
- Panels (10 – 15 min per panel member)
- Topic specific workshops (1 hour)
- Master classes (1 – 2 hours)
The final selection of topics and the exact format of speaking slots will be finalised closer to the time.
The emphasis at the Summit is on interaction with the audience and getting real and measurable commitments from speakers and delegates. Therefore, all sessions will be recorded by a scribe, including the commitments made and will then be tracked throughout the year. Speakers must also agree to live streaming of their sessions.
Papers can be submitted between February and June 2018. Successful submissions will be announced during the coming months up until July 2018.
The SA Innovation Summit unfortunately is not in a position to pay speakers for their time. Participating speakers are however invited (and encouraged) to attend the whole conference (including the Ecosystem Tours) from 12 – 14 September to make fully use of the business matching platform, various networking opportunities and join us for the SA Innovation Summit Prize Giving ceremony and After Party.
Speakers will be invited to a complimentary lunch on all the conference days, and will also have full access to the Business Lounge where WiFi is be available and refreshments will be served on both days, should you need to catch up with some work in between sessions.
Our media engine now worth more than R40 million annually, will further support and advertise speakers and their topics. Media interviews will be arranged before, during and after the Summit.
Speaker registration, parking and program arrangements will be finalised closer to the date.
